My Expectations for the year
I expect all my students to be:
Inquirers: You love to learn or are learning to love to learn. Intelligence is not something you are born with, it is a skill you acquire.
Knowledgeable: Social Studies deals with your interactions as a human! It’s loaded with all sorts of great information for you to soak up.
Thinkers: Take your time, use your head, make informed and educated decisions to the best of your ability.
Communicators: Doing your best to work well with others, express your ideas in a variety of ways (not always reading and writing), be able to talk to me when you need to.
Principled: Be ethical; do the right thing
Open-Minded: Social Studies is learning to appreciate our culture and past, be open to new ideas and recognize that when we struggle or are confronted by something we don’t like, it’s usually a chance to learn in disguise.
Risk Takers: Try something new! Give it a chance! That’s how true greatness is achieved
Balanced: Be healthy (sleep, eat, hydrate, exercise) Be emotionally ready to learn, and nuture your intellectual self (your brain likes to learn so let it!)
Reflective: Don’t just stash away all this information, think about it from time to time, even think about thinking, your brain will thank you!
